We’re looking for a Mobile Electrical Engineers/Electricians to join our large team, to respond to reactive and maintenance work within the retail sector. A flexible approach is essential, as work is carried out before and after store opening times, and there is occasional night work. 

Responsibilities include:

•	Ensuring power distribution and lighting is maintained in stores
•	Providing support services to stores, car park lighting, and petrol stations
•	Undertaking maintenance and re-active work completing service reports and associated documents
•	Meeting target response times
•	Client liaison.

The ideal candidate:

•	Experienced Electrical Engineer – within the commercial/retail sectors

We own and operate eight nuclear power stations in the UK. Hartlepool power station is one of our advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR) power stations and is capable of generating 1210MW of electricity – the equivalent of supplying 1.5 million homes.  

Applications are invited for the above position within the Operations Department at Hartlepool Power Station.

The successful candidate will be employed on operational duties, which will include responsibility for the control of a 660MW unit comprising an Advanced Gas Cooled Reactor and associated turbo-generator. There will also be scope for gaining plant experience in reactor and conventional plant operation, in fault diagnosis, and in the application of the Safety Rules to release plant for maintenance.

Initially there will be a training period of 12- 18 months, which will cover plant familiarisation and reactor desk control work, including a structured simulator programme. Following the training period formal authorisation will be required before Assistant Engineer Operations status is achieved. During the training period there will be a period of time spent in the Operations Services Section.

You will be responsible for the safe and compliant operation of a reactor as part of a Central Control Room team. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following qualities:

•	engineering experience in the technical or manufacturing environment
•	a proven track record of working to demanding safety standards
•	excellent interpersonal skills
•	sound and demonstrable commercial awareness
•	a flexible and pro-active approach to work
•	a positive attitude supporting continuous improvement

Qualifications:
As a minimum, applicants will have a HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.  Candidates with a relevant degree may have an advantage.

Remuneration:
These posts offer the opportunity to gain experience in the operation of a modern nuclear power station.  Excellent career progression opportunities exist after undergoing suitable development and training.

The salary range for this role is between £25K - £46K. The starting salary for this appointment will be within this range dependent on the successful candidate’s existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate is required by the company to undertake a role in the emergency scheme.  This may necessitate the individual being on a standby rota. Appropriate payments in accordance with the Company Agreement will be made.

The role of the Fuel Supply Team is the development of detailed strategy and the subsequent negotiation and operation of contracts covering supply of AGR/PWR fuel and associated components; the Fuel Supply Manager will lead and motivate the team of professionals, to supply the nuclear fuel requirements of British Energy.

Responsible for an annual spend of around £100m pa and managing the quality assurance of fuel manufacture, the role will entail co-ordination, review and optimisation of the Fuel Supply Team activities and resources. A knowledge of fuel supply contracts, policies, UK regulatory regime, associated legislation, and the associated British Energy fuel supply agreements is advantageous.

The role includes negotiation and management of contracts for quality assurance and third party technical surveillance activities at suppliers. Ensuring appropriate quality arrangements are in place, to ensure that the requirements of the contracts covering AGR and PWR fuel fabrication and quality assurance are met.

The role also includes development of stocking strategy and the optimisation of fuel stocks; managing the station operational interface; market intelligence activities, AGR fuel utilisation initiatives; management of fuel international safeguards requirements; forecasting fuel requirements; and managing the business risks associated with the fuel and fuel component supply.

Essential attributes/experience:

•	a degree in a scientific discipline and/or membership of a relevant professional body
•	a flexible and proactive results based approach to work
•	experience of negotiation and operation of commercial contracts
•	good communications skills – written, oral and interpersonal are essential, as is the ability to interact effectively with other business units and staff at a senior level within the company
•	the ability to interface with a wide range of external stakeholders at all levels is essential
•	the role requires experience in leadership and line management
•	business planning and work management skills are essential
•	familiarity with power station operations, safety case and the UK regulatory regime would advantageous
